Publication: MSPs and their role in achieving the 2030 Agenda

The book “Multi-Stakeholder Networks: Cooperation as an Opportunity for the Implementation of the 2030 Agenda” published on February 7 underlines the relevance of cooperation of society as a whole for achieving the 2030 Agenda.

In order to implement the 2030 Agenda, forms of cooperation consisting of several areas of society are needed. The book “Multi-Stakeholder Networks: Cooperation as an Opportunity for the Implementation of the 2030 Agenda” therefore systematically examines the conditions for the effectiveness and success of such forms of cooperation. Written by and for actors from different areas, it appeals to the necessity of multi-stakeholder partnerships (MSPs).

The authors divide the book into three main sections. First, they provide an overview of the importance and prerequisite of cooperation in the course of human development and explain the role of different actors in sustainable development. They then explore factors critical to the conceptualization, planning, implementation, and evaluation of MSPs. The last part focuses on practical examples. The authors bring together different experts from science, politics, economy and other fields to show changes of perspective, synergy effects as well as approaches based on cooperation.

On 20 April 2023, the FOM University of Applied Sciences will host a conference at which the topics of the book will be discussed in depth by actors from practice and academia.
