The learning session is part of the United Nations High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) in New York and will take place as hybrid event on July 13, 15:00-17:00 (EDT). Interested individuals and stakeholders can access the webcast or watch the recording.
The United Nations (UN) High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development is the central UN platform for the review and follow-up of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on an international level.
On July 13 from 15:00-17:00 (EDT), Session 8: Enabling effective multi-stakeholder partnerships for the Sustainable Development Goals will take place in a hybrid format. The session is part of this year’s SDGs Learning, Training & Practice series which is being held annually as a Special Event to the HLPF. The event is organized by Partnerships2030, The Partnering Initiative and the Division for Sustainable Development Goals of UN DESA in the context of a global campaign on strengthening partnership enabling factors being conducted jointly with the Global Forum for National SDG Advisory Bodies.
The training session will focus on 1) partnering capabilities of the individual, 2) institutional capability to partner, and 3) partnership platforms. The training, through group activity, expert lecture and real world examples, will provide practical tools to increase the individual capacity for partnering. Individual capacity will provide the basis to discuss the tools, skills and mechanisms required to partner at the organizational level and the national level through partnership platforms.
Questions that will be discussed during the event, among others, are what it takes for organizations to become institutionally ‘fit for partnering’ and how partnership platforms can accelerate progress towards the SDGs. Through this training, participants will gain valuable insights and practical tools to effectively address the SDGs through successful multi-stakeholder partnerships.
